He holds your victory safe and secure today. 7 00:01:24.400 --> 00:01:33.120 Isaiah 53 gives us a itemized list, if you will, of what took place on the cross. It says that 8 00:01:33.120 --> 00:01:42.000 Jesus took up our pain and he bore our suffering. The punishment that brought us peace was laid upon Jesus, 10 00:01:51.440 --> 00:02:02.640 and by his wounds, we are healed. And I'm sure the people that are saying those types of things 17 00:02:52.880 --> 00:02:59.680 are only thinking about what it implies of us. You know, they're wanting us to know we're unworthy, 18 00:02:59.680 --> 00:03:04.560 we need to shape up, we need to make things right, we need to get our act together. But 19 00:03:04.560 --> 00:03:12.320 actually, the accusation that something like this would be a judgment of God really implies 20 00:03:12.320 --> 00:03:18.000 horrendous things about Jesus. Because when we believe something like a coronavirus, 21 00:03:18.000 --> 00:03:24.240 a pandemic was sent by God as judgment, what we imply is that Jesus's work on the cross 22 00:03:24.960 --> 00:03:32.960 wasn't a finished one. That somehow there's something that you and I can do to chip away at, 23 00:03:32.960 --> 00:03:41.360 or maybe even add to what Jesus has already done. And I'm here to tell you, you and I don't have 24 00:03:41.360 --> 00:03:47.360 that kind of authority. I used to grossly underestimate what Jesus did on the cross 25 00:03:47.360 --> 00:03:53.120 by believing it was all about modifying my behavior. It was about getting me to shape up, 26 00:03:53.120 --> 00:04:01.760 it was about getting me to behave better. But actually, the amazing victory that Jesus won 27 00:04:01.760 --> 00:04:10.400 through the cross modified sin's behavior. No longer do you or I have to be weighed down by, 28 00:04:10.400 --> 00:04:19.200 or dictated to, or crushed by sin, because Jesus disarmed its power over us. 29 00:04:20.160 --> 00:04:30.560 This is the kind of God Jesus is. He is rich in mercy, abounding in love. He is mighty to redeem, 30 00:04:30.560 --> 00:04:38.960 and He is always at the ready to put sin in its place.
