My peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. 4 00:00:17.000 --> 00:00:22.000 Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. John 14 27 5 00:00:22.000 --> 00:00:30.000 Jesus gave his peace to the disciples before he left his earthly relationship with them and returned to heaven. 6 00:00:30.000 --> 00:00:39.000 His peace which he transferred to them had various aspects. 7 00:00:39.000 --> 00:00:46.000 First, there was a profound relationship with his father which gave him legitimacy in everything he did. 8 00:00:46.000 --> 00:00:51.000 It did not matter to Jesus that other people did not understand him or that they opposed him. 9 00:00:51.000 --> 00:00:59.000 None of that affected his absolute certainty of who he was and his significance because he had a relationship with his father. 10 00:00:59.000 --> 00:01:03.000 He knew what his father wanted him to do and he did it. 11 00:01:03.000 --> 00:01:06.000 There was nothing that could damage his relationship with his father. 12 00:01:06.000 --> 00:01:11.000 So, restful one, I bless you with knowing that kind of peace. 13 00:01:12.000 --> 00:01:18.000 I bless you with knowing deep in your spirit that God your father's favor is upon you. 14 00:01:18.000 --> 00:01:26.000 That he loves you, likes you, enjoys you, and takes pleasure in who you are today regardless of what you do. 15 00:01:26.000 --> 00:01:31.000 He finds pleasure in you while you sleep and when you wake up. 16 00:01:31.000 --> 00:01:34.000 I bless you with profoundly knowing that reality. 17 00:01:34.000 --> 00:01:43.000 I bless you with knowing your father's love with being secure and having peace, the peace of Jesus in your relationship with your father. 18 00:01:43.000 --> 00:01:51.000 Another aspect of Jesus' relationship with his father was that he had a sense of being adequate for the task at hand. 19 00:01:51.000 --> 00:01:54.000 He was prepared and trained by his father. 20 00:01:54.000 --> 00:01:57.000 There were different seasons of his life. 21 00:01:57.000 --> 00:02:02.000 Times of immense pain and of immense pleasure and times of loneliness and of friendship. 22 00:02:02.000 --> 00:02:12.000 Yep, whatever he faced, he went into each day knowing that with his father partnering with him, he was adequate for the task to which his father called him. 23 00:02:12.000 --> 00:02:21.000 There was no anxiety, no fear, no sense that God would put him in a place without giving him the resources to meet that day. 24 00:02:21.000 --> 00:02:27.000 So, restful one, I bless you with the same sense of adequacy. 25 00:02:28.000 --> 00:02:34.000 I bless you with the assurance that each day will be father filtered. 26 00:02:34.000 --> 00:02:43.000 That God himself will see to it that nothing comes into your life that is beyond what his strength in you can handle. 27 00:02:43.000 --> 00:02:56.000 I bless you with the peace of knowing ahead of time that your father God will partner with you to provide adequacy for each day, whether it is a day filled with pain or with pleasure. 28 00:02:56.000 --> 00:03:02.000 A third aspect of Jesus' peace was that he knew what his father wanted him to do. 29 00:03:02.000 --> 00:03:10.000 He knew what his father was doing from the beginning of time, and he did the same work that his father was doing. 30 00:03:10.000 --> 00:03:18.000 So, restful one, I bless you with knowing in your spirit before you know it in your mind the works of your father. 31 00:03:18.000 --> 00:03:23.000 I bless you with understanding in your spirit what your father has called you to do. 32 00:03:24.000 --> 00:03:32.000 With knowledge so clear and strong that nobody can dissuade you from what God has called you to do. 33 00:03:32.000 --> 00:03:42.000 I bless you with a clear sense of the call of God on your life, the big picture as well as a daily sense of what God would have you do. 34 00:03:42.000 --> 00:03:47.000 A fourth aspect of the peace of Jesus was timing. 35 00:03:48.000 --> 00:03:58.000 At age 12, he eagerly desired to be about his father's business, yet he recognized God's direction in telling him to wait another 18 years. 36 00:03:58.000 --> 00:04:03.000 His heart yearned to be in ministry, yet he knew it wasn't time. 37 00:04:04.000 --> 00:04:20.000 When it was time, he was on time, and he was positioned for his baptism, for his first miracle, for each of the major events of his life, and even for his death, his resurrection, and his ascension. 38 00:04:20.000 --> 00:04:25.000 Every aspect of his life was on time. He did the right thing at the right time. 39 00:04:25.000 --> 00:04:28.000 He had a knowledge of timing, and that gave him peace. 40 00:04:28.000 --> 00:04:48.000 I bless you, restful one, with the peace of Jesus, the peace Jesus had of being at the right place at the right time, of being able to live with urgency within himself without being overwhelmed by the urgency, because he knew that his father's timing was right. 41 00:04:48.000 --> 00:05:00.000 I bless you with having a passion that burns within you, but I bless you with knowing God's perfect time for that fire to manifest in ministry. 42 00:05:00.000 --> 00:05:05.000 Another aspect of Jesus' peace was his immense perspective. 43 00:05:05.000 --> 00:05:09.000 He knew where the individual pieces fit into the big picture. 44 00:05:09.000 --> 00:05:14.000 Most people looked at his impending death on the cross as a terrible thing, 45 00:05:14.000 --> 00:05:18.000 but Jesus saw it in the scope of all history, 46 00:05:18.000 --> 00:05:23.000 because he was the Lamb slain before the foundations of the world. 47 00:05:23.000 --> 00:05:28.000 He put pleasure in perspective and realized 48 00:05:28.000 --> 00:05:32.000 that those who worshipped him today would be gone tomorrow. 49 00:05:32.000 --> 00:05:37.000 He put ministry in perspective, knowing that the seed he sowed today, 50 00:05:37.000 --> 00:05:42.000 although it was not well received, would bear fruit another day. 51 00:05:42.000 --> 00:05:48.000 He had an abiding peace because of his understanding of his Father's big picture. 52 00:05:48.000 --> 00:05:53.000 I bless you, restful one, with the peace that Jesus had, 53 00:05:53.000 --> 00:05:56.000 which is beyond what the world gives. 54 00:05:56.000 --> 00:06:02.000 I bless you with greater --> 00:07:01.000 It was like something that got on them and in them, 68 00:07:01.000 --> 00:07:11.000 that it wasn't just like a feeling or a moment or just some fleeting thing or a breeze. 69 00:07:11.000 --> 00:07:14.000 It's like we could walk into a meadow and it feels peaceful 70 00:07:14.000 --> 00:07:18.000 or there's music just playing or you walk in and oh, there's a certain peace, 71 00:07:18.000 --> 00:07:22.000 but this was something altogether different. 72 00:07:22.000 --> 00:07:30.000 It was like a substantive thing. 73 00:07:30.000 --> 00:07:40.000 And I love the aspects of this Lord that speaks of a peace that comes in legitimacy 74 00:07:41.000 --> 00:07:45.000 and being adequate, which really is founded on you. 75 00:07:45.000 --> 00:07:52.000 And that's the whole idea of what this... 76 00:07:52.000 --> 00:07:54.000 It's basically like aspects of rest. 77 00:07:54.000 --> 00:07:58.000 These are other pillars or foundations of what rest is, Lord, 78 00:07:58.000 --> 00:08:01.000 and how we can, I don't want to say attain it, 79 00:08:01.000 --> 00:08:05.000 but the pillars or the ingredients, if you want to call it that, 80 00:08:05.000 --> 00:08:10.000 that can bring about profound peace and that there's a promise. 81 00:08:10.000 --> 00:08:16.000 There's a promise from you that we can attain to, 82 00:08:16.000 --> 00:08:19.000 that we can hold to, that there's something substantive 83 00:08:19.000 --> 00:08:21.000 and that you are called the Prince of Peace 84 00:08:21.000 --> 00:08:33.000 and that you're coming to umpire our
