They didn't want to be a theocracy. I believe that that if you have not, if this is new to you, I believe 180 00:15:17.000 --> 00:15:21.300 that this can open a whole new season in your relationship with God. A whole new 181 00:15:21.300 --> 00:15:30.340 ability to to hear from God. If it's not new to you, I pray that it stirs up a 182 00:15:30.340 --> 00:15:39.060 hunger for you to go deeper and go into whole new levels in this season of 183 00:15:39.060 --> 00:15:48.220 hearing directly from God. And so Jesus modeled that it's about relationship and 184 00:15:48.220 --> 00:15:55.100 this is a key distinction if that's new for you. That it's not about religion, 185 00:15:55.100 --> 00:16:01.420 it's about relationship. Relationship. You see sometimes we want to hear from God 186 00:16:01.420 --> 00:16:06.860 and we want like just the facts. We want like information. Like tell me where to 187 00:16:06.860 --> 00:16:13.060 go. Tell me what to do. Tell me what it is. We want information. But what you see is 188 00:16:13.060 --> 00:16:22.580 that God deals in relationship first. In relationship. And so you see in John 10, 189 00:16:22.580 --> 00:16:30.580 10 verses 10 through 14, that it's he uses the metaphor of a shepherd. And I 190 00:16:30.580 --> 00:16:33.940 want you to consider for a minute, Jesus is the Good Shepherd. I want you to 191 00:16:33.940 --> 00:16:39.060 consider the role of a shepherd because this will be very comforting for you as 192 00:16:39.060 --> 00:16:43.940 you go through this season. And it will give you a depth of understanding when 193 00:16:43.940 --> 00:16:50.020 you understand a shepherd and the role of a shepherd. You see David understood 194 00:16:50.020 --> 00:16:56.340 shepherd because he was. And so Psalms 23 is one of the most loved Psalms. One of 195 00:16:56.340 --> 00:17:01.300 the most loved passages in all of Scripture. And it's given great comfort to 196 00:17:01.300 --> 00:17:07.220 people for for many many years. Thousands of years. Psalms 23. And as David 197 00:17:07.220 --> 00:17:12.260 understood what it meant to be a shepherd, God would prepare him to rise 198 00:17:12.260 --> 00:17:17.940 and know what it is to have so much peace on the outside that as a little 199 00:17:17.940 --> 00:17:23.380 shepherd boy he would rise to be a king. And he would bring the golden age of 200 00:17:23.380 --> 00:17:29.060 Israel. And he would have so much peace on the inside. He would be able to bring 201 00:17:29.060 --> 00:17:34.620 peace and lead a golden age. The longest period of peace in Israel. Because he 202 00:17:34.620 --> 00:17:39.500 understood what it meant to have a shepherd and to be a shepherd. And so I 203 00:17:39.500 --> 00:17:45.060 pray that that becomes big for you. So back to John 10. 10 through 14. I know I 204 00:17:45.060 --> 00:17:50.260 jumped through that, but the Holy Spirit led me to really share that. He says when 205 00:17:50.260 --> 00:17:57.980 the shepherd has brought his own sheep outside, he walks on before them. And the 206 00:17:57.980 --> 00:18:05.980 sheep follow him because they know his voice. And this is what I want to 207 00:18:05.980 --> 00:18:13.260 encourage each one of you to begin to know the voice of God. This will be huge. 208 00:18:13.260 --> 00:18:20.060 This will be a huge breakthrough. Know the voice of God. And it goes on and says, 209 00:18:20.060 --> 00:18:26.100 they will never on any account follow a stranger, but will run away because they 210 00:18:26.100 --> 00:18:31.620 don't know the voice of a stranger or recognize their call. You see, there's a 211 00:18:31.620 --> 00:18:36.020 lot of voices vying for your attention right now. And they don't all have your 212 00:18:36.020 --> 00:18:40.540 best interests. I'm sure many of you have figured that out. They don't have your 213 00:18:40.540 --> 00:18:46.660 best interest in. And so to be able to discern the voice and the voices and to 214 00:18:46.660 --> 00:18:51.480 be able to discern truth from manipulation and truth from error and to 215 00:18:51.480 --> 00:18:56.840 be able to walk in peace and not be led into fear, we must be able to tap into 216 00:18:56.840 --> 00:19:04.480 the Holy Spirit within us. John 10 10 says, the thief comes to steal and kill 217 00:19:04.480 --> 00:19:08.960 and destroy. There's people that don't have your your best interest in hand. I 218 00:19:08.960 --> 00:19:14.560 think you figured that out. Jesus says, I've come that you can have and you can 219 00:19:14.560 --> 00:19:20.960 enjoy life and have it in abundance. Any of you think that God is a killjoy and 220 00:19:20.960 --> 00:19:24.640 doesn't want you to have fun and and maybe you've been indoctrinated in 221 00:19:24.640 --> 00:19:28.440 religion and all you know is all the do's and don'ts and don't do this and 222 00:19:28.440 --> 00:19:34.680 don't do that. You've missed out on what this is really about. This is that about 223 00:19:34.680 --> 00:19:39.240 enjoying. This is about having the abundant life. This is about prospering 224 00:19:39.240 --> 00:19:44.320 in every area of your life, physically, financially, relationally. And so the 225 00:19:44.320 --> 00:19:49.400 thief comes to steal and take that away from you. God is the God of overflow.
